Oh geez, Brandy
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I find I often have the name for a blend before I even start thinking of notes... I use song titles a lot, as they aren't copyrightable & tend to be pretty evocative, but I also cull ideas from literature & poetry, children's books, mythology, recipes, films, history... pretty much anything I can get my hands on!
I am probably in the minority in that I don't feel any obligation to include the notes in my scent names - I sell almost exclusively on Etsy, where I have a full screen in which to prattle on about the scent description, so having it in the name specifically doesn't feel as necessary somehow. I just try to capture the feel or color of the scent...
In terms of using descriptions straight from the FO supplier, I know BB & WSP both encourage it - and if you're using it straight from the bottle, there's something to be said for letting Anne Marie & Debbie do the work for you
(Lifting a description from another soapmaker, on the other hand, is decidedly bad karma
Just sayin'. )
