Can I use violet oxide to color body butter? I want to make lavender/citrus body butter for christmas and I want to know if the same color I use for soap can be used for body butter? I only need a little color. Can't see going out and buying a special color for such a small project.

As long as it is skin safe, which it sounds like it is, yes. But you will have to look into how it will mix into your butter so that you don't have lumps of color that don't mix evenly.
