Welcome. What was your recipe? How hot were your oils and lye when you combined them? Cold process or HP? Do you have an accurate scale? Did you use a stick blender?

my recipe Goats milk,Coconut oil, olive oil, lard... I have used this recipe several time and it turned out very good... The instrutions for the goat milk soap said that I don't need to worry about the temp of the oils... just mix the lye with the half frozen milk and let stand for 10 mins. OH it is cold press, and I have a very good digital scale, and stick blender.....The only thing that was diffrent this time was my fragrance, insted of just lavender it was a lavender/vanilla mix... Hope there is something that I can do to save this batch!!!!!

You can try to rebatch. When I make goat's milk soap I use half water as the liquid to dissolve the lye. When it cools off I add the rest as goat's milk. I combine the lye and oils at around 110 degrees. It's possible that your temps were too high and the soap overheated.

I don't think that the temp was to hieght be couse I have made it the exact same way before and it turned out perfect!!!! how would I rebatch this???? All if the rebatch recipes say to grate the soap into small peaces for melting.... This is not hard it is still smushy so do I just heat it up and go from there?????

If it's soft, cut it into pieces, put it in a crock pot or oven safe container and cook on low til it becomes like mashed potatoes or thick apple sauce. Then glop it into your mold. I can't say if this will fix your problem since I don't know what oils or butters you used, any superfat or water discount.

olive oil 36 %

total oil weight 50
water as percent of oil weight 12.033 %
super fat/discount 5%

Hi Janis, you don't enter the goat milk into the soap calc. At the top, the calculator gives you the liquid/water amount automatically after you go to review and print your recipe which is next to the lye amount that it automatically gives you. This liquid amount can be water, milk, juice, beer or a mixture for making your soap. Of course each has it's own way of being incorporatd into the lye as soapbuddy explained with how she does goats milk to keep it from burning. Beer will volcano too if you don't let it go flat, etc. It does seem to me that everyone has their own tricks for milk soap, so it's just a matter of trial and error. Good luck with your future batches.
