I just got my first bottle of the LG from Bramble Berry but I am not exactly sure what I want to do with it. I need some more inspiration. I got inspired to purchase it after seeing Soap Queen Tv and the Independence Day episode. AM made adorable pinwheels and fortune cookies but its not what I really want to do. So I thought maybe someone here would have some other thoughts on what to do with it. I do only M&P soaps, not lotions etc. Thank you for any thoughts. I know there must be some other cute ideas out there. :)

I prefer to use MP base with just a small amount of butter. I find extra added glycerin to MP base sticky.

Hi Soapbuddy. So I can add butter and make moldable little pinwheels or such? How much butter would I use in the base? Thanks. :)

The stated usage of oils and butters is usually 1 tablespoon total per 1 pound.I don't add glycerin either makes the soap sticky and really horrible to touch.

Thank you all for your replies but I don't think my question is coming across correctly. And this is like the 3rd forum I have asked this on so obviously its me. :?

Has anyone here seen SQTV segment where AM makes little pinwheels and fortune cookie decorative soaps? It is the Independence day or July 4th segment? Anyway, she uses Liquid Glycerin in her main base and then the "soap" is able to be rolled up into little decorations etc. They are adorable and I am thinking SURELY there must be more fun and creative soaps to make this way. I saw somewhere someone rolled up 2 colors together and make a cute "diploma" soap with a ribbon around it. Very cute. If I am not making any sense then please forgive me. lol. I don't know what else to call the stuff because that is what AM calls it and that is what my bottle says it is and it is what she used for these 2 recipes. I just wanted MORE options. Its ok if its sticky I guess (she doesn't mention it in the video) but I am sure it would be ok if they are just for looks.

Thank you for your help. :)

I understand now what you are looking for ,the glycerin is used to make the base more pliable so you can shape the base more easily and the base doesn't split when you roll it etc.I haven't used this method so can't help you .I do know it will be a very small amount of glycerin, haven't got time now to search but l am sure now you have explained what you want somebody will be able to head you in the right direction. If not l will do it when l get home later

Aw thanks Pops1. Yes I was starting to go a bit crazy today. I was being misunderstood everywhere lol but in the tutorial that is what they called it. I didn't know what else to say or call it. lol.. Anyway, Anne Marie did give me a few other links for jelly rolls, sushi rolls and something else which are so cute. But I would still love more ideas if anyone has any. Thanks again for willing to help. :)

I think you might have the links for some of the recipes that are on youtube but l will post the link so you can go through it yourself.A lot of the recipes that use bendy soap shown in these video's don't actual use liquid glycerin its just straight base but if you added the prescribed 10% of glycerin you will get even better results.

Since you only use this style of recipe for things that need the base to be bent in some way there arent many recipes which use this method, you will have to put on your thinking cap and come up with some new ideas .

I have done a bit of work like you are describing, pouring a large thin sheet of M&P and making into shapes for embeds or as stand alone little fancies. With most clear M&P you would not need to add any liquid glycerin to the base to make a rolled parchment/diploma sort of look. I could see how adding some might help keep the surface from cracking as you roll it (depending on type of base), but this is something you could buff out by hand if you are not making a lot of them.

If you want to add some liquid glycerin for greater flexibility I would say (off the top of my head mind you) not more than 1/2 tbs of glycerin per pound if you want to avoid a sticky feel, but again that can vary by the type of soap and how 'natural' it is.

I hope this is helpful for you and best of luck with your project :D

Thank you so much supersoaper. I haven't tried anything yet because I still have lacked the confidence to try it but that helps a lot too. Thanks again.

Tia-I hope that helps you also because I really didn't know what to tell you. :)

Good luck to you too. Kim

The one I thought of and the link to the main site is already posted is here: http://www.youtube.com/user/GoPlanetEar ... 6sMTys-2J8

I'd experiment with a curl embed in white melt and pour. Don't be afraid to experiment, just jump in and try it out. Make a smaller batch to start and then go from there. You can do it, we all started with baby steps.
