I have been ordering the BB LCP white and clear base but friends of mine find the soaps I make drying even after exceeding the recommended extra oil/butter amount per pound. I was wondering if anyone uses silk peptide or anything like that to make the after effects nicer on the skin?

I remember reading somewhere that people that are new to glycerin soaps will find them drying at first but after approx. 2 weeks of use or so, the skin will be adjusted and it will feel more moisturized. Can anyone vouch for that experience?

Another BIG complaint I got was that the soaps fragrance is not left on your skin after the bath and I also use the max recommended fragrance amount as well.

Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated because I live in Canada and have loads of this base and I love BB stuff because of the gauranteed great quality.

Thanks everyone.

Thank you

I don't know about silk, but several others have said that the LCP is drying. It has less glycerin than the regular base to prevent sweating in humid conditions. I'm not sure most people would accept having to go through 2 weeks in order for drying to subside. If one is selling or giving to anyone other than close friends and family, I don't know how to communicate that the drying will cease at some point. Maybe some have tested thoroughly and will reply.

Forgot to comment about the scent. Soap washes away and doesn't leave a scent. Normal for soap. The scent is to be enjoyed while bathing. Don't we all love the wonderful fragrances?
Lotions will scent the body.

I have used other all natural M&P bases and they are lovely, not drying at all. LCp is just drying, and even if you give it sometime it is still drying to the skin, I don't think time makes any difference, at least to me that's my experience. I tried adding shea butter to the white base, didn't do much. I tried liquid silk, didn't do much. And I think the more additives you add the less bubble you have. So for now, I use LCP for shampoo bars, very good for oily hair like mine, only need to add essential oil and leather very well.

Soap is a wash off product. The fragrance will not last long on the skin after you wash. If you want something that lasts longer, I would suggest a lotion, cream or a balm, like a lotion bar. Those you don't rinse off.

I bought a pound of each of the LCP clear and white to try them, but haven't used them yet. After seeing a few of these posts about the base being drying, I made some soap today and I will see if I experience the same thing. :|

Okay, thanks for the feedback.

I guess I got a little paranoid over the fragrance factor as they expected it to leave some kind of aroma like their commercial soaps. The drying thing is something I will have to work on/adjust. Think I might actually try a different BB base and see how that goes and just update the results in this post.

Thanks again!

Maybe the Shea base would be a good one to try? It has Shea butter added for extra moisturizing and is so very nice. :)

what oils/butters did you try to make the soap less drying? I use the LCP soap and like it very much.

I was thinking about something today. When I used glycerine soap for the first time (good quality bases too, not craft store), it did feel different from the commercial soap I used to use. It felt "grippy" (can't think of the right word to use, lol)..so maybe that is what some consider "drying"? The commercial soap had "slip" and also left the fragrance on my skin....and it did take a week or so for me to get used to the feel of using glycerine soap.

Just my .02 :D

I suffer atopic dermatitis on my hands, i purchase bramble-berry LCP base in Australia, ive used it by itself and with shea butter, and i find the shea butter works well and softens my skin. the lather in the shower is fantastic, and comparing it to normal glycerine suds, they feel a lot creamier.

I was talking about being new to using glycerine soaps in general, not LCP..that's why I quoted that one paragraph. When I first started using MP soap, it did feel different from the commercial soap.
