A dear friend gave me a big bag of lavender buds and only asked for a couple bars of soap in exchange (using these buds in some way). I really do not want to go the mouse turd route but I am in a quandry as to what to try with them. Has anyone tried pouring boiling water throught them or soaking them in hot water? I am thinking of using this water as part of the recipe.

I am also thinking about soaking some of the buds in um violet infused oil before pressing them into the top of my cp log after it is poured.

Anyone tried the above and have results to report or, other ways to use these buds?

I'm with you BearGulch--I don't care for the look of whole buds in or on soap....I have tried grinding them in a food processor, and using them in the soap that way...and as expected, there were brown specs throughtout the soap, with some added mild exfoliation...I personally did not like the look(though it was better than the whole buds :), so I gave up using buds, ground or whole in soap. I now use them solely for my bath teas and sachets.
Would love to hear other experiences too!
Susan

I use them for sachets only, I just don't like them in or on soap at all.

No matter what I tried they always turned into brown specks or brown mouse poop.

Thanks for the replies. I plan to use sachels with the bars for the gifter of the buds but last night I was in an "expiermental" mood. Watch out! Some time ago I purchased amethyst purple mica from bb that turned pink in my soap. Well it was still hanging around unused so I decided to put some buds in a mixture of olive oil and this purple mica and let it soak while I made a batch. After putting my batter in the mold, I lightly pressed these buds on top. Cant unmold yet as it is still warm but so far it looks pretty cool. Took a pic but not sure how to attach it but I will give it a try.
Thanks everyone.

ps, I guess my pic size is too big so I'll need to find out how to shrink it. More later.
