I have thought of that before since I have tons of strawberries in my garden, I haven't done it yet, but I have used pureed cucumber in my soaps before and I haven't put any preservatives in it, the soap is fine, I have also used tomato juice, probably the lye will change the color of the strawberries, because my tomato soap isn't red, it is kind of light brown.

I think any fruit or veggies that go into CP need to be pureed. Chunks can get moldy or get rancid and ruin your soap. I haven't tried strawberries, but I did try fresh cranberries once and the soap looked nice at first with a soft pink color and brighly speckled from the fruit, but eventually faded to a rancid looking peach/tan color. Still nice soap, but not for sale. I think the strawberry will do the same. Maybe someone on here has had a better experience.

Save them for eating. The color won't stay; it will change from tan to brown and no scent will come through. A preservative won't help in this case as it would get eaten by the lye.
