I want to make a coconut milk soap with OO and CO and Palm etc. My dilemma is I want to CPOP. The previous coconut batches I did I left uninsulated and or I refrigerated them for 24 hours.

If I CPOP with a coconut milk substituted for water what do you think the outcome will be?

Have you had this experience? TIA

etc splnz

If your oven goes down to 170 degrees, put it in, but only long enough for the soap to gel. Take it out as soon as it's fully gelled, so it doesn't overheat. Depending on your coconut oil and coconut milk, your soap might turn a very light pink. I have no idea why.

Thanks soapbuddy. Do you think I can texture the top after it comes out of the oven, or should I do that before it goes in the oven? I love pink, especially shell pink!

Hope your home wasn't too damaged in the shake up. I rode out the Loma Prieta in SF back in the day gosh 89?

I sub out coconut milk for water all the time with my cpop. My base recipe is shea, coconut oil, palm oil and olive oil. I add in other oils depending on what properties I want in the soap. It turns out great but just remember not to go higher than 170 and only leave the oven on for an hour.

As far as the top goes, I have always heard you can't do fancy tops with cpop- they collapse while in the oven. I think the top gets too "set up" to try to design after the hour.

I didn't cpop my coconut milk soap after seeing AM's soap volcano. It got really really hot on it's own really quickly. I poured in the mold and it was starting to heat up so I stuck it in the fridge. I have had success with decorative tops in the oven. You have to do them before you put it in. HTH.

I am so glad you said that it is possible to do decorative tops! I have heard so often that you can't that I haven't even tried but I will now!

I just soap at between 100 and 105 degrees to keep my coconut milk soaps from overheating.

I normally soap around 100 or so but I did it cooler for the cm. When you do a decorative top for cpop, You can't cover it in the oven. I will cover the non decorative ones with wax paper but if you try that with decorative tops, it will smoosh it down.

Thank you so much for the info- I love the fluffy, icing like tops on soaps, just thought you couldn't do it with cpop.

i do decorative tops in the oven all the time. wait until a slightly thicker trace to texture and they're less likely to flatten out.
