Teach Soap

I created a layered soap using clear base that I fragranced and colored using mica and white base that is just fragranced. The soap looks great and I have just tested it in the shower. I seems to me that the white base soap is very soft compared to the rest of the soap.

Why is that? Am I doing something wrong?

Where did you get the white base and how much fragrance did you add?

I got both bases from Bramble Berry and I added for 200 gr (7 ounces) of white base 4 ml (0.13 oz) of fragrance. I hope this helps I use the metric system.

Hmmmmm... did you let the soap sit for a day before you used it? Was it completely cold when you took it into your shower?

I let the soap sit over night before popping it out of the mold. Plus the soap sat half a day unused after taking it out of the mold.

The soap was sitting in the soap rack in the shower (not soaking in water of something like that), room temperature.........and nobody used the shower before me. When I was using it, the white part was soft and if you pressed your thumb in the soap it would leave a dent. But I could not do this with the clear base part.

I have no idea then. I add fragrance to my white MP base and that's it. It's pretty hard when it's done.

Scarlette, any chance you got the LCP clear, & the regular white bases? I found the LCP base is decidedly firmer than the regular base... It may be a batch issue, as well - I notice the occasional shift in texture with my LCP bases, & chalk it up to humidity/temperature during manufacturing & shipping...
