So I gave away a soap as a tester to my friend the other day, trying to get everything perfect, and just wanting to know her opinon. Her main complaints were that it smelled different out of the package than when it was being used (I guess not as strong, like she wanted her hands to be scented or something??) also she said it didn't have enough lather for her taste since she normally uses shower gel she said. I am not sure what I can do to fix either of those issues. If it smells good in the soap after several days, I don't really know what I can do to make it have a stronger smell while using it. What about the lather though? Does anyone know of another base (other than just bulk clear or bulk white) that has a really strong lather? I know it will be expensive to buy one of the other bases, because not only do the bases tend to be expensive, but the shipping is more too. But I thought maybe I could offer it at a higher prices if someone wanted it at least. Just try it out. Anyways, I just thought I would throw that out there. Get some advice. Thanks!

I use BB's LCP bases, & get tons of compliments on the amount of lather - it's gorgeous! I found they lather much better than the other BB bases I've tried (Shea, Organic). If your friend is used to shower gels (esp ones with SLS), bar soap lather just might not be enough for her. Have her try it with a pouf, maybe?

How much FO are you using per pound? I fragrance right around 1.5%, which sounds low but yields really nice results - the scent is strong enough to linger on my hands for about 15 minutes.

I have been using .25 oz per pound. Although, when I make my bars individually ( like 1 oval molded bar etc) I use a dropper that is aprox 1.5 ml per 4 oz bar which is a little less than .25 oz per pound. I like to do it by volume when I can, but since I only have two oval molds for the time being, I can't exactly measure out 1/16 of 1 ounce on my scale. It does go to a fraction of an ounce, but it only reads in 1/8 (or /4 or /2 ) increments, so for just one bar, it's not the most exact when it comes to the amount needed for one bar, it won't even show up.

But actually for the soap she was talking about, I did do a 3 lb loaf and it had 3/4 oz in it total. Not sure what that comes out to percentage wise. I have never used the LCP base. But it gives a great lather you say? I had actually never thought about using a bar of soap (only shower gel) with a sponge like that, until my grandma told me thats what she does too. I think the lather is just a personal preference though, I didn't see any problems with it when I used it (but hey, maybe I'm biased!)

You can use up to .5 oz of FO per pound of MP and soap. I would not go above that for Melt and Pour soap though.

Any kind of MP base is not going to lather as much as the detergent based bar or liquid soaps that you can get at the grocery store. (My hubby has the same complaint.) Different MP bases do lather differently, but they will all still have less than the store bought soaps. You can let her know though that this does not have any effect on how they clean you... more lather does not necessarily mean cleaner skin... :D

If she likes a lot of lather and liquid soaps I would try the liquid concentrate. You can either not dilute it, or dilute it only a little to suit her taste. This stuff lathers like crazy, especially in a loofah. :D

A while back I tried the BB sampler pack with several SLS free MP bases. I loved the GM base and thought it had lots and lots of lather!
