I made bath fizzes today, and for some reason they not only stuck to what I was drying them on, but they seem to be pliable. Kinda like they're halfway on their way to completely setting, but they're dough-y. I'm not entirely sure how to describe it.

These are the ingredients I used:

Baking Soda
Citric Acid
Essential Oil (Chai Tea and Vanilla)
Witch Hazel (misted on)

Thank you SO much for all your help.

Was it similar to Anne-Marie's recipe? http://www.teachsoap.com/bombs.html
Here is another one: http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/bathbombs/
Or this one: http://www.pvsoap.com/recipe_bath_bomb.htm

The Chai Tea fragrance oil; I presume is bath and body safe? Did you measure your ingredients by weight?

It was Anna-Marie's recipe. I don't have a scale, so I used two cups baking soda and one cup citric acid. @_@ And yes, the fragrance is body safe- I made sure of it. Any idea of what I did wrong?

It's possible that you added too much fragrance. Is the baking soda and the citric acid new?

Everything I'm using is braaaaand spankin' new. My fragrance and citric acid came in the mail today, and I bought the baking soda fresh. Do they change after a while? How much fragrance would you recommend putting in? I'm so new at all of this!! Thank you so much~

I know lots of people go by cups or teaspoons, but it's not really accurate, if you want to duplicate someone else's results. Citric acid weight is different from baking soda. My VERY rough guess at 1 cup citric acid & 2 cups of baking soda is probably a 1 lb. and a half. For that amount I would use about 0.5 fragrance oil. I would say that's about 14 Ml. or 3 small teaspoons.
