Hello everyone! I am looking for some different packaging for the lotion bars. I have been using the metal tins, but have seen some in the past that were packaged in plastic containers...like the metal tins, but only clear plastic. I would love to find a place to purchase these. Anyone seen these or use them? I also have a few lotion bars that are poured into the flexable ergo mold with the massaging "beads" on the top. The bar measures approx 1" deep x 3" long x 1 7/8" wide. Any suggestions for how to package this one?

Thanks for any help you can send my way :D

Are you talking about clear lotion bar containers?

I am looking for a clear container for lotion bars to be packaged in....not the tubes. I use small round molds and usually package them in tins, but I want people to be able to see them, so I thought a clear plastic container would be nice. I have seen them in the past but have not been successful in locating them now.

Good question. I'm having the same problem. I bought a bunch of tins, bit now I changed my mind and don't want to use them. Plus I ordered the wrong ones, 4oz, not 2oz, so they would be big lotion bars!

I make some smaller lotion bars and was thinking of just putting them in a cello bag. But any other ideas would be great.

I thought about the cello bags, but I want to put them into something where the customer has a place to store them one they get home with them. There just has to be another idea out there

I've been struggling to find the perfect container too. I have made some 1 oz mini bars, and for my own personal use, I've been keeping them in a ziploc baggie....but I have yet to fine anything affordable to put them in that would be good for long term storage. Does anyone know if you try to shrink wrap them they melt quickly? I would assume they might, considering they melt on skin contact, but maybe if you keep the gun moving quick enough it won't melt the bars? Idk. But that still doesn't help with once the customer gets it home and opens it, you know? Where did you get tins at if you don't mind me asking?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have been lurking for a few weeks. Thanks to everyone for all the valuable information!

I found what could be a nice package for your lotions bars. They are round metal tins with clear lids.

Be careful with metal tins. Not all of them are safety coated. If they're not, they will pick up any moisture and rust.

I wondered about that too soapbuddy. I think the metal tins are out of my price range though.

I make a travel/sample size lotion bar that I have been trying to decide on packaging for also. Currently, I shrink wrap them (they do not melt if you work quickly.....in the warmer months, I place them in the refridgerator for a few minutes before shrink wrapping) and tell clients to store in a plastic baggie. But I'd like to offer a container that they could purchase if they want more 'permanent' storage.

I asked my clients which they'd prefer, plastic or tin, and responses have been about 1/2 and 1/2 ....I think I am leaning toward offering both

I think that was what I had decided to do, shrink wrap them and tell them to put them in a plastic baggie. I even thought about putting a "nicer" plastic baggie in with the order-- And then like you said, having the option to purchase something better for longterm storage.

Would those jewelry style bags work that zip at the top, or would a cello type bag be better? I wondered it the bar would make the packaging look greasy?

Also what if you shrink wrapped them and offered a small soap caddy for them to place on their sink counter to keep the lotion bar on? Can they be kept out like this or would they get hard? I think a caddy would be a pretty way to display them and also have them easily accessible. What are your thoughts?

I'm not sure for all recipes, but one of the ones I made was equal parts cocoa butter, shea butter, beeswax, and sweet almond oil- and it got hard after being left out over night. We have been keeping it in a ziploc bag and it did make it very greasy. It left my hands greasy too for the first few minutes. Then after that it was amazing how well it soaked it and how soft it made them! To me, even if I have to keep it in a ziploc bag it is worth it because it works wonders on dry hands, knuckles, elbows etc.
