Ah the dates were the BIRTHdates of the soaps! LOL not the shelf dates.

Really would you be embarassed if your soap crumbled and fell apart and it was only 2 years old? I would'n be a happy soaper!

Hey didn't think to ask what causes a two year old soap to crumble!???

I was given as a gift this bar of soap from the WW2 era. I broke a small piece off from the corner to try it and it is lousy soap and of course has no smell anymore. But it is soap and over 60 years old.

Well that last attempt did not get the picture posted. They changed things at photobucket so I need to figure it out again. Here is my second try for the ww2 soap.

That's the stuff the US Army passed out on the ships en route to Africa. The servicemen used that stuff to wash themselves, their clothes and anything else that needed cleaning. It's harsh as he!!. I think it's what ultimately became known as "black african". It'll crumble and with some hand pressure you can stick it back together again. It's supposed to be great for acne....probably because it'll peel your skin off if you use it long enough.
