how many of you all shrink wrap your CP? I did really well at a show last year but another lady selling CP ( she shrink wrapped hers ) didn't. I thought it was beacuse her customers couldn't smell it. She didn't have any unwrapped to sniff . Mine are in just cigar band lables.

I shrink wrap all of my soaps. The fragrance tends to last longer than unwrapped. At shows, I surgically cut the rectangle end out of a single bar and place it upright with it's siblings. Customers are able to smell from the cut end. You can purchase 500 3 x 5 shrink wrap bags online for about $12. I've tried other strings, wrappings, etc. This works good for me.

How long after you made your soap did you shrink wrap it? I have several batches that are well cured but have not wrapped any of them yet. Can you tell me where to get the shrink wrap? Do you use a heat gun or a hair dryer. I used a hairdryer to shrink wrap my lip balm tubes but not sure how well that works on soap. Thanks.

If you send me a PM, I'll send you the guys email. I don't want to broadcast it in the open. I heat up the toaster oven to 200 degrees and throw a wrapped soap in there. In about 6 or 7 seconds I take it out...nice & pretty. I like to give my soaps at least 3 weeks curing time before wrapping them. I can wrap, shrink, print and label 6 dozen bars in about an hour. I tried the hair drier and heat gun. It took me about an hour to do about 20 bars that way. Too much time for my liking.

I can get 20 bars shrink wrapped with a heat gun in about a minute. I would be too scared to use a toaster.

I shrink wrap all of my soaps with a heat gun. I use perforated polyolefin shrink wrap instead of PVC. That way the scent comes through and the bars can continue to cure... but they are protected from dirt and look very nice.

Understand your apprehension using a toaster oven Soapbuddy. It made me nervous the first couple of times. I have a system of stacking & moving them in & out repetitively....but you have to have fast hands and not get distracted. I love making soap and experimenting....and selling my creations. I don't like wrapping and labeling so I try to get it over with as quickly as possible!!

Somewhere I read about this covering that was tube like where you put your soap in and cut it to length. Then shrink wrap and it leaves a bit of each end open for air. Maybe I made this up, because I don't seem to find it where I'm looking!!! When I do find it again I'll post a new topic.

Magic Hands....I looked at the Papermart site. The bags are cheaper but when I calculate shipping the cost comes out about 27% higher than the supplier that I use. I tried for purchases of 500, 1000, and 2000 and it was still higher. I look at my total out of pocket instead of what the item costs. If you want info from my supplier send me a pm and I'll give you his email. The total cost of mine includes shipping.

Where on the PaperMart site are the 3x5 shrink wrap bags? I don't see them. Supersoaper, your guy is my guy. He doesn't carry 3x5's. 4x6 is his smallest size shrink wrap bag. I've asked twice. Thought he might have started stocking them after seeing an earlier thread. Got the most recent confirmation today that 4x6 is his smallest size. Also I looked at my last order and it was $13.99 including shipping for 500 4x6.'s That was before the January 1 USPS and UPS rate increases. He's still slightly less than PaperMart though if that's the only thing I need, because they have a $3.00 small order fee.

Anyway, does anybody see 3x5 shrink wrap bags on the PaperMart site or know where else I can get them? I've been trying to find that size since last fall. Thanks!

I figured out why the cost is different. It's shipping. My supplier is located on the outer banks of NC and I'm in NC. Looks like we both found what works best for us.

Justkate***I was mistaken on the size. I've been searching for the 3 x 5's for you and can't find any. There's a local shop that carries stuff like that but they're a little pricey. I'll venture out tomorrow before the Super Bowl and see if they have some. If they do, I'll pick some up for you....my treat. I'll also try to find out who their supplier is, if I can.
