Teach Soap

Hi all, recently I started making soap by the cold method, always do it with olive oil base and then they add other oils: such as, almond, jojoba, etc., I always have the problem with the colors, so it looks like the colors do not work in this cold method in melt and pour. How can I improve on this? for example if I want to make a lavender soap and made him purple lilac or not I get that color. Do you see colors with oils used, for example olive oil is a greenish yellow hue. I do not know how to improve the look of these soaps with this method?

Make sure you are using colorants that are specific to cold process soap. Brambleberry carries some and other soap making suppliers carry them also. There are also clays to use although it can change the character of your soap if you use allot. I started with micas but now use liquid colorants. Colors for Melt N' Pour aren't always the best to use for cold process. Check the vendor that you bought the colors from and see if they list the color as CP safe. If you want a nice Lavender/Lilac/Purple, you can use FD&C Blue #1 or purple mica that's cold process safe.
