Hello everyone...I'm back to making soap after a bit of an absense and I seem to be having a little bit of trouble.
On my first batch, I made a big mistake and accidentally poured the oils into the container of lye (instead of the other way around). I immediately realized my mistake and noticed that the soap mixture got thick very quickly, but after slowly stirring everything together it appeared normal like it always does. I poured the soap into the mold and cut it the next day. It appears fine and the ph test seemed fine. I'm just wanting to ask if there is anything I should still be concerned about with this batch and also if this mistake could have been dangerous??

My second question is about my second batch of soap. I made a simple 2 layer cp soap that was 50% olive oil and then some coconut and palm oil. It seemed to go very smoothly. I mixed to to a light to medium trace, then scooped out 1 cup of the soap mixture to be colored a different color. (I was making a peach bottom layer and a lime colored top layer). I poured the bottom layer and then waited about 15 minutes before I poured the top layer on just to keep it from sinking all the way through.
After 18 hrs I noticed about 10-15 tiny droplets of liquid scattered on the soap's surface. They read as a 13 ph. I waited a couple more hours and went ahead and unmolded the soap. I'm not sure what happened but somehow the droplets disappeared (??). The inside of the soap looked fine and read at a 9.0 ph. I'm concerned about what seemed to be lye droplets that appeared and then disappeared.
What do you guys think?...Sorry this is so long...thank you very much...

Pouring oils into lye is dangerous. It could become a volcano and splash you, possibly causing some serious damage to yourself.

Depending on your formula, some soaps can end up with droplets of some sort on the soap. You could check for zap to make sure it's not lye. If it absorbed back in, you should be ok.

thank you for the response soapbuddy..i couldn't believe I poured the oils into the lye but i did..I'm so glad nothing bad happened...I was freaking out as soon as i did it..
I zap tested the 2nd batch of soap, but it was after I no longer saw the droplets on it..I was too scared to touch the actual droplets...the droplets' ph was really high but the soap still seems okay so far..I guess I will test it on my hands in a few weeks..looks normal..
Thank you for the help :D

I've had soap do that here and there....and "in the beginning" i grated that sucker and rebatched it. Finally, I had two batches, same recipe different scent that did it the same day. And I refused to do anything to it. Safe to say, it did what yours did and both are lovely soaps. :D

As for the oil to lye....nope, never did it. Although I've had vague soap nightmares about it...
