Teach Soap

I have been looking for a simple recipe for body butter that uses ounces instead grams and such. I thought I had found one, but it used so much oil that I feel like if I go out in the sun, I'll deep fry!! LOL


Simple is good, and we already have alot of the ingredients-shea butter, avocado butter, peanut oil, olive oil, that "germ"-y stuff for bacteria, scent. Just not a good, simple recipe that my tiny little mind can understand! And we are not looking for huge batches, just small ones at first to play with and understand.

On a side note, we bought some of the lotion base #2-I like it tremendously! wonderfully thick, sinks in and makes my skin feel good. Just wish it wasn't going bye-bye. How is the beeswax one?

Start with whipped shea butter and experiment adding other waxes, oild, and butters. Here's my udder balm recipe. I use alot of cheap oils and it melts when it gets hot, but I use it for my goats, so they don't care. It is inexpensive. Just keep in mind that the recipe is 'designed' for goats. It is all collaberated around the 2 parts solid 1 pard liquid ratio of a body butter recipe.

I about ready to give up on recipes and just go to the kitchen and slap something together. I tried the BB recipe, (and 3 others), which I really liked making, but after trying, not so good. Made me feel as tho' I'd been at the beach all day with sunscreen on-you know that oily feeling? Shower time...

Maybe instead of avocado oil, veg. glycerine? And not as much of that, because the shea butter is oily enough? I don't know. Maybe, like the soap, I'll do it by the seat of my pants, and see the results.

I just went thppp to the recipes, and just started playing. I used a bit of cocoa butter this time, that has jojoba in it. What I came up with (3 oz or so) was so much less greasy. Thank goodness for that.


We were just invited to a craft fair on 4th of July weekend. I'm not going to do body butter (afraid they'll melt in this heat we have that time of year, so lotion it is....
