Update. .

Salty Mariner: The bar was nice and hard that I got. Loved the light exfoliation with the seeds and it had pretty good lather. I think the scent is light and nice. ...I was trying to figure out what the notes are in it and have failed.

Salt Bar: Did I forget to mention this one? Well, that's because I only got to use it once as my boyfriend took it away and took it to work. I liked it a lot and the scent was perfect for it--not to strong and not too masculine.

Cucumber Melon: I don't smell any cucumber in this unfortunately, but I love the smell of melon! This is my daughter's favorite smell of the bunch. Nice lather. Nice size bar, fits perfectly in your hand.

I had a chance to use all the soaps from the past week til tonight.

Amanda - A great bar! I love the shape, fantastic lather & bubbles! A very pleasant scent, just the right amount of me. Made my skin feel luscious and moisturized.

Kbn - Another great bar. Good size for handling. GREAT bubbles, I love cucumber/melon and very moisturizing.

Karen62 - Love the "By the Sea" bar. Good exfoliation, great lather & bubbles! I handed this one over to my hubby and he's in love with it. Going to definitely try the round bars again -- my first 2 attempts were disasters, but I think I can make these. I really like the shape because they are so easy to handle.

Vinca - the salt bar was just the ticket the day I used it! Left my skin very exfoliated but not dried out. How did you do that? I felt very refreshed afterwards, the perfect scent for the bar and nice swirls too. Great job! you're such a pro at this.

Leslie - Your lemon Merangue Pie bar was delightful. I loved the 2 toned soap, the top looked just like merangue. I like the fact that you added the lemon peel powder too. Great bar for those who have kids at home, the perfect size for those little hands.

Redfishinggirl - Unfortunately, I am having some treatments done on my face at this time so I shipped this bar off to my son & his girlfriend. My son called me and told me they both love, love, love this soap and they are constantly fighting over it. He said that I will have to make him some of these bars, I just hope I can come close to anything like what you made. I loved your last bar, and this one too, I was just so disappointed that I was unable to try it. I know that my son will not send it back for me to try later, lol.

Lisa - I had a wonderful time in the shower this afternoon after my bike ride from the coffee shop. Just love your bars of soap, but you already know this. I was able to hold off on the latte at the coffee shop and enjoy it at home without the calories!!!

Thank you all so much for the experience of this swap! I certainly gathered some great ideas and some ways that I can improve on my soap making.

Spotted Cat: Because I'm magic. That's why. 8)

I'm telling you guys, that's like my prettiest bar EVER. Ever. :D

Lisa: Your BOYFRIEND took it to work?? What does he do? SOmething dirty? I'm glad he's enjoying it!

I just used Rena's funnel swirl. Very light and airy....The funnel swirl is great in technique, and you might try tweaking one or the other in brightness (hue?) so you get a really great contrast. I'm going to keep soaping with it so I can see the colors change as I wear it down. The scent is driving me CRAZY...I wanna know so bad what it is!!!! My skin feels so clean and "light". Really like the quality of this soap. Me, personally, I would use it as a summer soap because I need a little more moisture in the winter, but this one is by no means drying. More like, since I'm a sweaty hot mess in the summer, this bar is *so* refreshing and "clean" feeling. Heh.

How did you adhere the paper to wrap your soap? Glue gun? It stayed really well, and I like the subtle nature of the ingredient list on the back. :D

And, I keep staring at Beehive Alchemy's soap. It's like rocks. Like a hunk of rock. Very elemental, very beautiful. Natural looking. The scent matches the look, you know? More rustic than perfumey, elemental.

Oh, and my sniffer is unbroken again! :D

Vinca,

My boyfriend is in the streets department locally here so he lays asphalt, like 10 tons at a time, so anything that gets that stuff off his hands, arms and legs is a blessing and you did it. And best, I didn't have to do it for him. Thanks again.

It’s quintessential Indian summer here. Fall is my favorite season and Pamper Pantry’s Autumn Harvest bar was beckoning. It’s reminiscent of leaves turning fall colors and has a warm, inviting fragrance. Aesthetically it’s a pretty soap with swirls that fit the season. In use it’s even more delightful. Buttery pumpkin that blossoms into light spice notes. Smooth, bountiful lather that surprised me by giving way to fluffy bubbles. I was cleansed, comforted, relaxed and oh-so-pampered by this wonderful soap. DH loves this one too. Thank you, Pamper Pantry!

Hey Lisa, have you tried fuller's clay in your soap. I hear it's a good cleaning agent.

Thank you JustKate - the scent is a blend, a kind of surprising blend actually. When I first heard of it, I thought that doesn't sound good - but I tried it anyway and it is addicting!

It's 50/50 Pumpkin Pie Spice and Lavender! It does remind me of Autumn, leaf piles, burning leaves, etc.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for sharing the blend that you used Pamper! It is a wonderful bar and more beautiful when the soap is wet. Loved the colors too.

Kate, you need to write romance novels on the side--your descriptions are amazing!!!!

Hi everyone, finally got a chance to soap the last two this am--Red Fish Girl's and Mickey's. What a treat!

Red Fish--you had the best lather of all for me, bar none. Thick, rich lather and a fantastic smell. I have oily skin that can get pretty flaky too but your bar didn't feel overly drying on my face. I did need to use moisturizer, but I felt nice and clean! Love the lather! Envious of the hardness of your bar. It was so solid and substantial. I thought the packaging was adorable and once again, wonder how you did that. Very cute and bright so it must stand out on a table at shows.

Mickey--First, no one let on about the great stuff you had inside the shrink wrap. The soap stamp was very classy and the tiny insert was a jewel. Started my morning off so nicely. You took so much time and care in these soaps and I personally really appreciate how much of yourself you put into this. The smell was outrageously summer and I usually don't like fruit but loved the watermelon. The lather was very big fluffy bubbles for me. ...not sure how you did that! Was trying to figure out what the honey and sea salt did but I am assuming they harden the bar. For me, I would have liked less seeds because they get a little scratchy for me, but the overall effect was wonderful.

And I immediately jumped from the shower and hid these two bars from my family so I could enjoy them the rest of the week!

I am really loving the quotes like the ones Mickey and Vinca inserted. They feel so personal to me, like you get to know the soapmaker without having met the soapmaker. It was a very nice, warm touch.

I am kind of bummed now. . .out of new soaps to try. Hope we can do this again in the spring.

Oh, and I totally meant to mention Mickey's quote. I was like a cat with one of those jingle-ball toys trying to look at his w/o opening the soap yet. ROFL!

And for me, I *do* love to put quotes on my soap that mean something to me. And, strangely enough, you wouldn't BELIEVE how many people say that their quote came just at the right time. And I send them totally random, kwim? :D

Yes I really enjoyed seeing your quote too Vinca. I've heard that one and it is quite thought provoking.

I just started doing those little message inserts in my soaps. I like that there is more to discover once you unwrap it... kind of like a fortune cookie. Only in this case you're not neccesarily expecting it. If I ever start selling my soaps I wonder if people will buy them just to see the hidden messages :) They won't all be soap related quotes but I came across that one and thought it would be perfect for the soap swap.

I'm glad you all enjoyed it.

Hello everyone! I have been away for awhile, so I haven't been able to use any of my soap yet. I do want to say that they are all beautiful and smell soooo good! I can't wait to try them.

Also, thank you to the people who commented on my gingerbread latte soap. I was so nervous about sending it. Just because I like it doesn't mean everyone else will, ya know?

Amanda Griffin- Was the brown sugar on top too goopy?

johnsonlisa- I did use some TD to get the lighter brown but am not sure what you meant about the curdling. Do you mean the whiter swirls and the sort of antiqued look? I have never used a thermometer when I make soap, just went by ear and my soap has always turned out fine. Then right around soap swap time, I started thinking maybe I should be more precise. I started taking temps and soaping at around 110- 120. All my soaps came out with that white swirl. I don't like it so I went back to soaping the old way and it went away! Go figure!

Anyway, thank you so much for trying my soap and for all of your comments. I really enjoyed doing this and hope to do another one :D
