Lavender EO does make the Organic Liquid Soap base very thick. I typically whisk in 10% warm water over a 2 to 3 minute period until I get a consistency that is more normal for a base.

Then, I thank my lucky stars that I got 10% more product for a few pennies of water addition.

I use distilled water and do not add an extra preservative. Supposedly, the pH of liquid soap is too low to grow bacteria and germ beasties.

On a side note, I just made Tea Tree Liquid Organic soap last night using the base and it incorporated in lovely and it did not give the really thick consistency like the Lavender.
