I've been asked to replicate a soap that was seen in Australia - the sample was mailed to me, and it's adorable, but the cupcake is topped with what looks like whipped cream soap. I'm guessing the original isn't made from m&p (the feel is almost spongy - like a foam of some sort). Is there a way to whip up the m&p bases to get the look of whipped cream? I've tried bath whips, but they don't seem to harden?

Any tips from you pros would be appreciated!
Thanks

It sounds like you're looking for Cream Whipped Soap. Brambleberry used to carry a nice cream whipped soap base. Several other suppliers carry it (if BB is not carrying it anymore).

You add a specified amount Almond Oil and then whip the base with an electric beater until it doubles in size. Fold in fragrance oil and there you go! :D

Thanks for your reply! I appreciate it! Does the whipped soap harden? The one that I attempted to use came out more like bath mousse and never really hardened.

It doesn't harden but it isn't like mousse, either. It is sort of like cream-cheese frosting. I make it up and sell it in jars as cream whipped soap and shaving soap.

Interesting...I'll have to look into that. I was also wondering if there's anything that can be added to the bath mousse (or any other soap base) that would make it harden....

Thanks so much for your help, I appreciate it!

I will send you a couple of links via PM for the whipped soap. As for the question about something that will harden, I bet that Soap Buddy would know - she knows everything!

You can whip melted M&P - just melt and whisk with your electric blender - it does make it sort of spongy which is why I think it might have been done like that. It does harden when it cools down - not piped it myself but I imagine it would be fine with an icing bag. I would suggest you melt down some scraps (every one has scraps) first and whip that and pipe it and see how it goes... and then post pics for us!!!! Oh meant to say, add your FO/EO and any oil you might want to add once whipped and then quickly pop it into an icing bag or other icing equipment .. you would need to work fairly quickly so that it doesn't harden on you. If needs be you can remelt and do it again.

Thanks so much - I'm wondering if that's what they did with the original - I never thought it would take on that texture. I will give this a try!

Thanks for the tip, Honey!

Was it maybe whipped soap via the Nizzy method? http://nizzymoulds.com/Whipped/index.htm

There is a cream soap idea here
It is basically Lotion whipped into Melt and Pour.

I loved using it, but it did melt pretty fast in the shower. :D

I am thinking if instead of lotion a whipped soap base was used, and mixed with regular MP, it would produce a nice fluffy soap, that would actually soap well.
