I ordered CP Soap Molds on ebay last night that are made of plastic like your cutting board. There were TONS of happy customers. Do any of you have experience with this type of mold? Good or Bad....
From all I have read worst case scenario is that I would have to line the molds so no different than the others.

I haven't used them, but I think I know the exact ones you're talking about! They come apart and everything? I almost bought one too. Let me know if they work well. I would think that whatever FO or EO you used my be hard to get out of them and thats why they should be lined? Otherwise they seem pretty legit. You can use a lot less quality plastics for molds and they hold up just fine, so I would think these would be great? Plus they come apart and you can even put them in the dishwasher

If they are the ones I'm thinking of they warped and leaked. :(

Do you know personally that they warped and leaked? His site very specifically says not to tighten the bolts hard because it will cause warping. A few people mentioned that they leaked a little bit but nothing to worry about. I figured that was ok and if they leak a lot they are no different than any other molds that you HAVE to line :) ...i will just line them if I have to. AND I do love the fact they are safe for the dishwasher!
Will let you know how it all works out.

I bought 2 of those molds when I first started and used them for M&P. They worked pretty good for the first few batches, then I couldn't get them to release. They do warp when you tighten them up. The problem is if you don't tighten them up they tend to leak and far apart. I still use them sometimes, I just line them like the wooden molds, but you have to be very careful with CP, unless you pour and not move them around. I had one far apart when I lifted the mold. One of these days, I'll have my hubby just glue them together because I line them anyway now.

Thanks for your feedback. Did yours happen to have the bolt in the middle? How long ago did you buy them/use them? I know he made some improvements. Hopefully they are better now... all his feedback was great except one person who was super cranky in about 3 negative comments... go figure they kept ordering from him....lol

Hi Niko,

I bought them when I first started in January of this year. They are log molds with the screws & bolts at each end of the long portion of the mold. Does that make sense. If not, I can have my hubby take a pic & try to post it for you. I will still use mine, I just line it now.

HI Spotted Cat,

I ordered mine off of Ebay as well. Through reading his feedback I did gather that he had improved them and added a bolt in the middle. No need for a photo but thanks for the offer :)
Sounds like they are from the same guy. I'm excited to get them and think they will work fine... at least for a while.
I have considered making my own wood molds but decided to just get on with the soap making first!

If you want quality plexiglass or HDPE molds I would suggest Rich at SoapHutch. I've never lined any of his molds, they don't leak or warp. http://www.soaphutch.com/molds.html

Right now I'm using a wooden liquor box and a plastic organizer thing  I line them both. The soaps come out fine but eventually as I get better at soaping I'd like to buy a "real" mold, heehee. I was thinking about buying that plastic one off ebay. I'll probably just buy a wooden mold... I don't know yet :)

Technically no HDPE molds should go in the oven; no matter where they are made. I know that other soapers have done it, but it voids whatever warranty the vendor has.

I have two of those molds that I ordered from ebay..
They are not bad molds- you just have to be a little careful with them.
If they are not tight enough it leaks like crazy and if the bolts are too tight the
mold warps. I use them often and usually pour at heavy trace to help with the
leaking. My biggest problem is getting the soap to come off of the mold!
