While trying to come up with some new ideas to make my cold process soap more appealing. I came across the idea of putting glitter into my CP soap. I was wanting to know if anyone has experimented with this? What does it do? How does it look? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The only time I tried it, the glitter sunk to the bottom and any glitters were eaten up by the lye. You could not tell I put any in there at all.

Since glitter requires light in order to reflect and refract (similar to a diamond), opaque soap (such as CP soap) isn't the best use of glitter.

If you want a shine and shimmer on your CP soap, consider sprinkling the glitter on after you've poured your soap in the mold. The gel phase and heat from the soapmaking process should nicely bond the glitter to the surface of the soap - leaving you wiith a lovely sparkly soap top to give the appearance of celebration and glittery happiness.
