Grrr! Can't believe I did this!

The mistake: I forgot to add 4 ounces of oil (about 12.5% of my base) into this batch of CPOP I wanted to make.

The gears are turning: I contemplated for a minute or so if I should add those 4 ounces to my partially gelled batch...so I went ahead and did that.

The process: The soap started to dry up almost immediately but I added more liquid. I was already maxed out on liquid (12oz for a 2lb batch), I maybe added 4TBL.

The results: Thanks to adding the liquid, the soap was softer and a lot easier to handle. I mixed and tossed with my spatula until it was no longer crumbly, but got to that moderately hard apple-sauce texture. This was easy to PLOP into a pyrex dish I shall now claim in the name of Soap. Sorry, Mom.

Truly unexpected! I know my soap won't look pretty.... But I feel like I did the right thing. I wanted to make sure there was enough oil for the lye to eat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any chance this is salvageable? I proceeded with my CPOP directions at lowwwww heat (130 degrees).
I will update after unmolding.
I'll be interested to see how it turns out! Since you got the extra oil in there, and stirred it (hopefully really, really, really good!) and you're going to sustain the gel, it will be ok...I know it's not necessary to gel, but in this case *I'd* feel better if it stayed gelling for a bit, kwim? All the oil that was supposed to get in, did, right? What were you superfatting at? Think about this: If you superfatted at 6%, not even 1/2 of your "mistake" oil would have to blend in to make it safe soap, kwim?
Gah...so much to think about! But, I think it will be ok!
