You need a little bit of beeswax to make it more solid.

I have made a few batches, it seems to be the all the buzz right now. The one that turned out best, was a cleansing also. I used a conditioning emulsifier, shea and cocoa butter, light carrier oil and clear glycerine M&P with my favorite FO... They are wonderful!

Hello, I just do this lot, I finally have come, though not perfect, I felt very happy there. Use sweet almond oil, honey, glycerine, brown sugar and of course fragrance. :P

It looks interesting, but I'm not sure if adding honey is a good idea.

Soapbuddy, thank you for your comment.

When I wanted to undo this batch beeswax, as I propose, to rid the microwave but not as settled as to leave and follow the recipe is in www.teachsoap. The first time I did not use honey, not that I got hiceran solid, I do not know if the honey is "guilty" or not. I would like to know your opinion or that of another person. Thank you. :P

If it was me, I would leave the honey out, unless this is just for yourself and not to sell.
As soon as any water got introduced to this scrub, it would be a perfect medium for germs and bacteria to grow.

I didn't want to hog up the board and make a new post. So, my question is...

How long will a regular sugar scrub last, without going bad?
What are different ingredients that I could add to it? Possibly something that is good for oil/combination skin. I'm only looking to try this out on myself, and my family as my lab rats for now.

Also, I'm not sure where to post this question.. but I was at a craft show and a lady was selling bath bombs, soap and sugar scrubs and she kept going on and on about how Parabens are bad for your skin. She was telling people that they shouldn't buy any lotions or products that have them in it. Are they really so bad, because I looked through the ingredients list of many of the lotions and make-up items that I have and a lot of them have Parabens in them.

Thanks!

People still use parabens with complete safety. Preservatives are used in such small amounts, I'd rather use it, then get an unsavory germ on me and get seriously sick.

"Paraben free" seem to be the buzz word this year. Mineral oil was the bad guy last year.
Phtahlates are the next and up and coming bad guy.

Sugar scrub that has no water introduced to it should be good for a couple of months. Longer, if you use a preservative. If you make single use, small scrubs then you get rid of them after you're done, you should have no problem.

You're welcome.
I bet the small cube ice trays would be perfect for this.
