Greetings!
Below is my present soap making recipe (cold) and up and till now it has worked well for me
44oz tallow
20oz olive oil
20oz coconut oil
11.7oz lye
27oz of goat milk
1oz of essential oil
HOWEVER it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to obtain good tallow and I want to replace the tallow with lard
I use the tallow/lard to give my soap bars durability
Could you please advise on how I would adjust the above recipe with replacing the tallow with lard
Any other suggestions/hints is also appreciated

I use lard, I never could get ahold of tallow reliably. I just use the sap value of .138 to my recipes instead of tallow's, which was .141. Not that big of a difference. I like lard a lot.

Also, that is a very small amount of scent for that large of a recipe.

If you use Lard at 44 ounces to replace the Tallow then the Lye becomes 11.58 ounces and the water is 26.88 ounces. That's assuming 32 percent water and an 8 percent super-fat.

Lard and tallow are pretty much interchangeable. As long as you run your recipe through a lye calculator, you'll be fine.
