Hi Guys, Wish you All a Very Happy New Year!

My question is, how can we make a recipe "tear free soap" for babies? Is it even possible without using any chemical? I had tried Soap Queen's buttermilk bastille soap and gave it to few friends for feedback. Some of them came back saying it hurts baby's eyes and they prefer to use mild soap (in terms of tear) from Chicco.

Also, while using this soap on my baby I found it melts fast. What could be used as hardener other than sodium lactate?

Handmade soap has a high pH and will sting when it gets in the eyes. You can't make tear free soap without chemicals.
The mothers should keep any soap away from the baby's eyes.
Handmade soap needs to dry between uses so it lasts longer. You need a balance of both hard and soft oils so the soap will last longer along with a proper cure.

Thanks Irena for your reply! I do keep soap dry in between uses but still I find it mushy. My recipe was - 80% Olive, 15% Coconut & 5% Castor Oil. Do you think I should make any change in recipe?

Ok. I'll work on the recipe and try to substitute some of Olive with Coconut & Cocoa Butter.

I thought that high olive oil bar would create a soft bar at first, but would result in a very hard bar if left to cure long enough. Is that not true?
