Help! I am still waiting to make a loaf of cp soap that is decent. I just made one that is finally beautiful but its been 48 hours and is very soft and oozing oils and or/fragrance oil (3 oz blueberry from nurture soap). Will this harden in time or is it junk? I'm pretty sure my recipe was correct. the only difference is I used a new bottle of Lye, not sure that would make a difference. Thanks for any help!!! This is so much harder than it looks in videos :(

Still soft at 48 hours isn't that unusual.

What is your recipe?

Did the soap gel?

How much is "oozing"? Is it droplets or more like a puddle?

How soft is it? Is it like pudding? Cream cheese? Cheddar cheese?

If the soap didn't gel, it can start out soft. It should not be oozing anything. We need your recipe and method.

My recipe: 16oz each of olive, coconut, palm oil. 2oz castor, 16oz water 4,7 oz lye. vibrance colors from Nurture soap and that blueberry fragrance 3oz. I am not sure if it has gelled. I put a piece of wood over it and a towel and left it for 24 hours. It slipped nicely out of the mold, but it is so soft I can't really handle it and it is still leaking oil or fragrance oil. Not a puddle but a nice wet spot where it sits. Im on day 3 and no hardening seems to be taking place. Perhaps I didn't bring it to trace? It didn't want to harden with the stick blender, it took forever to have any thickness. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you

4.7 ounces lye

Running lye calc - that's more than a 40% superfat. Is that number correct?

Anything is possible, that would be my guess as well. It still is just kind of draining and is soft to the touch after 3 days? What do you do with it? Trash? boohoo!!!

I think it will probably firm up. See what happens. I don't want to suggest you rebatch b/c without knowing where you went wrong (or even if you went wrong), then rebatching could just be hassle. Plus rebatching sucks and I hate it, so I don't suggest it.

I think I switched the numbers around with the lye. I think I actually did 4.7 instead of 7.4. I wonder if I melt it down and then put in remaining lye what would happen? I can still squish it with my fingers.

You could try rebatching with the missing lye added. Use minimum water required to dissolve the lye. It will most likely need a longer then normal cure time.
