I've seen pictures/tutorials of the most adorable cupcakes made with soap on the bottom and a mix made with foaming bath whip as the frosting piled high on top. I want to make some but have a couple questions.

1. I feel silly for asking, but how is the icing (bath whip mix) used in the shower? Does it get soft and creamy in water or does it get hard like the soap so you can wash with it? Does it lather?

2. The tutorials are usually for MP but can it be used with CP as well? I want to use CP soap for the bottom of the cupcake, will the icing stick? It seems like it might not adhere well so I though I'd ask before attempting.

Thanks!

I only use CP soap for the icing and pipe it on once it thickens to icing texture. I like that its a more useable full soap, I tried using the bath whip and it just melts away. For the price of a cupcake (I sell at 6.00 or 4 for 20) the "icing" is almost more than the base, I want someone to get the most of it.

there are a few pictures there, everything is with my cell as my camera died, so BAD pictures. I've made 4 varieties and they all sell amazing. I was going to up my price, to account for more work involved (bars are 5, cupcakes 6) but in the end, people wont pay for it, not in my area... maybe for more specialized... but not regular.

I make the cupcakes... then while they wait (I like the tops a big firm) I make up another batch of soap. stick blend it to a thick trace. You want it as thick as an icing you would do on a cake, really thick. Get it into the piping bag with a bigger tip. You should be able to hold the bag up, with no icing dripping out of the tip. doing 2 batches allows you to not go as fast if you have a fast acceleration. you aren't trying to fill your silicone cupcakes and get an icing going. I have icing take 40 min to get thick enough to work with.

Its a LOT of fun. and for customers, I suggest they cut the soaps in half to use, from top to bottom down the middle, so it fits nicer in their hands... if they even want to use it. Most seem to buy them to decorate with vs use

And no, my icing never seperates from the bottom. I have dropped them, they have been thrown around (a box fell in my truck and were tossed around for 15 min while I was driving on bad roads)

I do like using large ziplock bags as my piping bags... I find they hold the proper ammount, and I have better control vs icing bag. BUT... I also have bad wrists, so, could just be me.

Good luck. show a pic once you have a few done!

Finally got these babies made! I need some practice in the piping dept, but overall I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Scented with Black Cherry because it behaves well and doesn't discolor, and it smells mouthwateringly delicious! Thanks for the help Vanilla Charms!

I can tell the icing is a little too soft, wait a little bit longer next time. did you do a dollop in the center before doing the rest? In doing a dollop in the middle of each, will allow you to get a taller icing as it will help support the icing the higher you go. and you might want to use a bigger tip, it will allow you to do less piping and get more done... and looks better and easier all around!

AND

AWESOME JOB!!! Seriously!!!

and another thing, I found using individual cupcake molds better, as you can have more room to do icing, and get a better look at them and move as needed.

I made mini bundt style cupcakes today... cannot wait to get them out of the mold. Debating using M&P as a glaze and icing them. Or, might to CP piped mint leaves on them (mint chocolate BB scent)

I used no colorant, just mint chocolate chip from BB. Its slowly darkening the cupcakes. I used dragons blood and only used it in half, the other have colored, no colorant... the dragons blood is taking over the non scented portion! I didnt know fragrances bleed!
