Are you using a preservative in them?

I would not sell anything at this point. Lotions or creams need to be tested for efficacy and safety. I would not sell my a handmade lotion for at least 6 months to a year, til I knew how it would behave long term.

Goat's milk in lotions is notoriously hard to preserve due to the milk's proteins.

Are you following the preservative manufacturer's recommended amounts?
Are you making your lotion under sanitary conditions?

Yes I have been using Germaben ll . I even gave the recipe to the place I bought the Germaben from so they could give me the correct amount to use. And still the problem. I know about the goat milk being hard to preserve that's why I decided to not use it in the creams. I do use bleach water on every thing and every where when making it. I really need help finding out what I could be doing wrong. The lotions that I put in malibu tubes seems to be OK. But the creams are NOT. Does any one know where I could get it tested and what can they tell you about it. Thanks for any advice!

You can get your lotion tested at Sage Script Institute.

Here's a thought...are you using distilled water? Do you heat and hold your water for 20 minutes?

Ya know I'm not sure but would adding herbal tea instead of the water do any thing to the amount of preservative? Just trying to brain storm here.

Now that you mention about heating and holding the water or in this case the herbal tea, I do it with my lotion but this recipe didn't say to do so I haven't been. Also I use filtered water to make my herbal tea. Oh my I hope this is the problem.

I would make a small batch with only distilled water instead of tea and see how that holds up over time.
