Teach Soap

My essential oil supplier has a combination oil (citronella, elemi & niaouli). I want to make a simple, "out of the bottle" base to use as a mosquito repellant for my granddaughter (she specifically said lotion, not bar or stick). Concerned that the coconut oil will attract unhealthy UV rays and she'll wind up sun-burned. I remember my teen years when we used straight baby oil out of the bottle - so dumb! If not coconut oil, any other suggestions without having to mix it myself? Can I add zinc oxide to the oil to provide some protection from the sun?

I would add titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, but neither one could be considered a sunscreen, since you won't know how much the UVA or UVB value is.

I think I'll buy some zinc oxide and add some to the coconut oil and try that. I do have titanium oxide here (the one for oil-based products), too. She doesn't want that "white film" that she associates with the zinc oxide products that she's seen other people use. I'll do some research before taking the plunge
