Hello,

I have a couple of questions. If I make a bunch of bath salts and put them into plastic jars--how do you keep the scent from fading? For example, if I make some bath salts and they sit for 2 months before they are sold (I make bath salts as they are ordered to prevent this) how can I keep them as fresh smelling as when I put them in there?

Also, the lotion in a jar life span is only as long as the shortest life span in the lotion if homemade, but if bought a base it depends on the base? I just want to know. I am slowly but surely going to incorporate lotion into my line, but I am trying to get my information before hand. So I don't spend all this money and find out 2-3 months later they are all moldy.

I would scent the bath salts as the orders come in. You are correct; the lotion in a jar life span is only as long as the shortest life span in the lotion if homemade. For the base, technically it should have an expiration date, as you don't know when it was made. I would contact the vendor and ask as bases vary.

Try this to keep your fragrance. It's good for that and clumping also. Dendritic Salt. Doesn't take much, but I got a great big bag of this.

I started bath salts a few months ago. Thought it would be simple. Having a problem getting every salt to dissolve; a few float on top of water, even when I swish well, but they still smell good!!! I have some that turned to hard beads. Finally put them in freezer bag and mashed them with hands.

What am I doing wrong?

I got fine grade dead sea salt, Epsom salt and add some baking soda, which make the water feel softer.

Mix the f.o. and color with the dendritic salt separate from your bath salts and then mix all together. I got the cyclomethicone oil, dry oil for no oily feeling, just leaves you feeling silky; no need for lotion; and no oily residue in the tub, but it seems like I have to use a lot of it for them to be moisturizing.

Finally I used my coffee grinder today and grinded the salts up. Now look like powder? Is this ok. Do some bath salts look like powder?
They at least should all dissolve really good now.

Don't want to run low on the oil, so this time I added almond oil.

With the salts, I ended up with 6 oz. Have no idea how much almond oil I should add; just added some and I'll see.

I find recipes for large batches. I only wanted to try about 4 oz. to start with.

Help how do you do this and get all to dissolve.

If running them through the coffee grinder works and they dissolve really good, would it be o.k. to run some already fragranced through there so they will dissolve, as long as I clean it and wash it out really well, with what with?

Does it really matter if they don't exactly look like bath salts, more like powder, as long as they totally dissolve, make the water softer and leave you feeling silky and not oily an no one who gets in after you falls in the tub; ouch!!!!
