Has anyone used Agar-Agar as a thickener in liquid soap? I was pondering this, as I use it to thicken things when I cook, and it has an almost indefinite shelf life, so was wondering if anyone ever used it as a thickener and if they had it mold at all. Just some pondering as I am unable to sleep.

I haven't. I would try a small batch. Make sure that it has a preservative. Agar is food for germs, mold and bacteria. It's used as a growing medium in labs.

I have seen many Lush products grow mold, germs and bacteria in the US. Just because a large company does it, does not make it safe. It's always best to do your research, then make an informed decision. If you decide to go this route, please get your product tested.

Wow, that Lush link is to a batch of microbe food! I guarantee that that stuff is FULL of microbe within hours of being made. Most of the ingredients are just perfect for growing your own little microbe farm! :?
