I have read several different things in regards to fizzies going stale. So I was wondering what the average shelf life of a bath fizzy is. (say that 3 times fast) I live in a pretty humid climate. Also I was wondering if you can wrap them in saran wrap and heat seal them. One website mentioned something negative about wrapping them in anything plastic.

I appreciate any insight!!

I find wrapping spherical items like the round bath bombs a pain in the patootie. I would think using saran wrap would not be a very attractive look due to wrinkling, though if its other molded shapes like butterflies, etc, it might look better. Plus it is a lot more fragile than shrink wrap. I have a bunch of shrink wrap bands for my lip balms and other jars & bottles, but I haven't picked any up for bombs/fizzies. Mostly because I think I'm just going to sell it as fizzing bath powder. If I was going to do molded fizzies, I would probably just try to put them in a jar and let people fish them out on their own. I'm also kind of a klutz, so I'm more likely to break them when wrapping (yes, I shattered a 2 week old bomb ) and unwrapping.

I hate trying to mold that stuff, plus I live where its fairly humid for 50-70% of the year so letting them sit in the house, even just a day or two to dry out enough to not crumble when wrapping, isn't very ideal. Right now, its 60% humidity in the house, and will probably go up because its raining today and I need to do some laundry and wash dishes.

I'm in the gulf coast area, and today its 93 degrees with a heat index of 99 with 48% humidity. Normally our humidity is much higher. So just stick them in a jar? How long with they last on average (when will they no longer fizz)?

I live in PA and always wrap with saran wrap anda heat gun. I do plan on getting a shrink wrapping system soon I hope. my trick is going to be wrapping the bath bomb cupcakes I get from my BB order tomorrow. FEDEX is holding it until the next business day which is monday sometime. oh and I find the silicone molds are great at making bath fizzes. and I do saran wrap them and still have some that are months old. so for my family who if they knew I'm stocking them would raid my supply ( I got alot of niecces and nephews). they say that the fizzes work great. I use treat bags from the cake decorating section from Wal-Mart and pretty ribbon, with either a sticker on the back or a scrapbook paper hang-tag.

I had no luck wrapping my fizzies in saran wrap- however, I have not tried shrink wrap yet. What I did was I borrowed some foil paper from my daughter- she is a cake decorator and has foil in lots of different colors. It's kind of nice because it molds to whatever shape you have and it is very pretty, especially at holiday time. The negative is that you can't see thru them- but I prefer it this way because it really protects them and they look quite nice all wrapped up in foil.

I have been wrapping my fizzes in foil for months…so far so good. No green spots or any color spots. I actually got the idea from a local market that I go to a lot- not sure if you all have Sprouts Markets where you live, but I am in SoCal and there are several here. They have bath fizzies wrapped in colorful foil- very pretty but major drawback in that you can't see them. Still, they seem to sell a lot of them. I had wrapped some fizzies in saran and the saran over time loosened up and got really icky and sticky. Haven't ever shrink wrapped but I'm not a big fan of shrink wrap except for M and P. Another thing I do is drop them into a plastic see thru treat bag (Michael's type) and hang a tag.

I went to a shop that had bath Fizzies in large glass jars unwrapped. It had a metal scoop and bags to bag your own but... I know people put their hands in there! It's cute for a display but I wouldn't mind them wrapping them up in the jar. Something to keep the germs away! :o
