Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone here tried the fondant mat with CP soap.
Here's the link http://www.wilton.com/store/site/produc ... &killnav=1

This mat was mentioned in the MP forum and I bought one but wondered if it would work with CP? There is nothing on the box that mentions heat restrictions, so I was hoping someone here has tried it out.

Thanks

Brandy

I bought it specifically for CP, but haven't used it yet.

I'm scared to cut it. I can't cut straight to save my life.

Yes, I have used mine for CP soap. Look in the flaunt your stuff thread and you will see my round ones. I just unmolded my wood mold that I cut part of the mat to fit into and I LOVE them! I don't know if I can post photos... my hard drive crashed last week and I am still trying to get everything back on to this new computer. I still have to find the disc to my camera to link it.
Now - back to the subject: the mat was easy to cut... just be sure to use good sissors and make a template fit to the size of your mold. I am waiting for another coupon to get another style.

And I did not gel either one I did. One of these days I will try one single circle mold with the mat in and stick it in the oven. That way if it recks the mat I am out only one small circle.

Part of the problem is finding a pair of scissors around here that DH didn't use to cut wire or other things he's not suppose to. I will be lucky if I find a pair of scissors that are sharp enough to cut anything but paper.

If you quilt you could use a rotery cutter, I used mine with a quilting ruler to cut my silicon mat in a nice straight line.

O.K., guys I have bought one, but here's my question? If using a regular wooden mold, do I cut for the bottom, the sides and the ends? Or leave out the ends???

I'm going to lay mine out on my sewing mat with lines to cut it! Wish me luck!

 Looks about right to me!

@redhead; You can do whatever you want but I didn't do the ends on mine because there would only be two pieces with the flowers on them (two ends). I only did the bottom, but that was because I was doing swirls too, so I didn't want the sides to be too confusing. I plan to do sides with a different mat and do a more plain design so the impressions will be better seen. All anyone can do is experiment and try different things and see what you like. So go for whatever you want! Have fun!

I usually do just the top of the soap. Now if you had the 12 bar soap mold you could cut pieces to fit the sides of that. IMO that would be a lot of fussy work. I have also cut a piece to line the inside of my pvc pipe and that gives the design on the side of the soap and then I do a stamped design on the top of the soap. And I agree with keeping the design simple, so a single colored soap.
What I wish is that wilton would come up with one for holidays...say little ghosts for Halloween, holly leaves with berries for Christmas. I find that the mats with smaller over all design come out the best.
