Teach Soap

Hi everyone, I began soaping a few years ago and when I first started I bought pyrex measuring bowls to make my soap. Shortly after I started I read on these forums about the issues with using glass and it not being safe so I switched it up to plastic ect. Long story short I want to start testing out lotion recipes and wonder what I have to do to clean the pyrex in order for it to be safe for bath and body product? Thanks

I would go with a stainless steel pitcher instead of pyrex. Stainless steel can be easier sanitized. My lotionmaking supplies are separate from soapmaking except pyrex, which is used for essential or fragrance oils. I don't use pyrex for the actual soap making at all. I've had Pyrex shatter in the sink from lye water.

I don't know how other people feel about it, but I prefer not to mix any bowls used for soapmaking for lotionmaking. For soap, you can just wash the bowl and you are done. For lotionmaking, everything needs to be sanitized and extremely clean.

I also have separate everything for lotion making that I keep it in a covered bin when not in use.
