Teach Soap

I just made a batch of goat milk cold process soap and it was beautiful and the batch had reached a trace and I added my fragrance oil and it curdled and now is a big mess. The oil has separated and it looks curdled - is there anything I can do?

Is it in the mold yet, or still in the pot?

If it's still in the pot, I would just keep stirring. What temp is it? If it is room temp, I would put it back on the stove and heat it on low and keep stirring it.

If it is in the mold, I would just keep stirring it. Once I had that happen and the gel phase fixed it - sort of. Soap still isn't pretty.

It sounds like it separated on you and that might be the fault of the fo. What did you scent it with? You can try giving it more time then zap testing it but it likely needs to be rebatched.

whip it, whip it good. If it is already in the mold and you can't beat it more, I'd dump it into a crock pot and cook the puppy like Irena suggested. Good luck! In the future, don't worry if your batter rices after you add your fragrance, just stir it until your oils are incorporated. Use the stick blender for a few zaps or hand stir if it is getting to thick, but get the oils mixed well. The ricing isn't usually an issue, as it usually goes away in the gel phase.
