Teach Soap

I've really been wanting to make a shampoo bar. What exactly makes this different? Can anyone lead me in the right direction on researching this? I want to make sure I thoroughly understand the properties that make an outstanding shampoo bar.

In my research I have found that those with short uncolored hair can use and like the poo bars. Many with colored and or long hair do not care for them. The PH of a CP/HP bar opens the cuticle which tends to strip the color from hair. Many who use poo bars follow with a dilluted apple cider vinegar rinse to close the cuticle.

I have Long, fine, frizzy hair and have tried every one of the bars I have made as a poo bar. I do not like any of them, including one made from a recipe that many on another forum love. This morning I tried my pine tar bar, I hate the way my hair feels today!

I prefer a syndet bar. I have tried regular handmade shampoo bars and even with a vinegar rinse, it made my hair rough and frizzy. I have thin, baby fine, straight blonde hair.

I see I know even less than I thought...nothing unusual there

First of all I had to look up Syndet bar because I never heard of it before. From what I saw, it's like regular shampoo without the water, hence the bar.

I was hoping to stay away from synthetics as much as possible. Sounds like a CP shampoo bar isn't reliable on all hair types. Darn I was hoping to come up with something. I've noticed they contain high amounts of castor oil. I have short-medium blonde (colored) hair that is baby fine. Right now I pick up a shampoo from my local health food store that has a reduced amount of synthetics but I don't think there is any kind of 100% natural ingredient shampoo out there. I hope you can prove me wrong. I never take offense to being taught anything!

What could I make that would be a basic natural "shampoo" like bar? Is there such a thing?

I have made a shampoo bar that I really like. does not leave my hair frizzy. I don't use vinegar afterwards either. I will be glad to pm you the recipe if you are interested later today when I get back home, It has tea tree oil in it. Avacodo, and has a high superfat. I have been very pleased with it. It is a easy CP Shampoo soap

i am going to make one for my friend to try. we shall see how it goes. the castor oil at walmart - is that sufficient?
