I would like to clarify my comment about "use whatever works for you." That is not quite a true statement. You should NEVER use glass or unlined wood because raw soap will deteriorate the glass and wood (lined wood is fine, but not lined glass IMO). Safety first. You don't need a glass container shattering with a brand new batch of raw soap in it or having it splinter glass/wood bits into your lovely soap.

Use heavy plastic, silicone, lined wood, etc. and always wear protective gear.

I love to look around the house and garage to find interesting molds! Any time I open a package that has the hard plastic bubble I have to see how it feels in my hand- will it make an easy to hold bar?

You can crinkle up the plastic as you line the mold to give the outside an interesting texture.

My storage box mold makes 3 logs which are then cut into 11 bars each. I do trim the outside edges because of crinkle marks, but then I keep the trimmings and use them in a future batch of soap. Nothing is wasted.

How do you use your trimmings in another batch?

You can add your trimmings to another batch at trace so they stay suspended.

I chop them up and mix them in the new batch at trace and pour it into the mold. Waste not want not.
