Teach Soap

would you guys consider taking a peek at my label?

i am trying to add it but it says it is too big. frustrating

i hope this is big enough to see. and pardon the box at the top. it is a trial. the name of the soap is black raspberry vanilla.

These old eyes can't see the picture enough to make out the wording and such - but from a high level view - it looks nice! LOL

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

It looks pretty. My only concern would be if it were on a soap with multiple colors or intricate design, it might be too busy. Nice design job.

What are the stripes? Is that your soap or part of the label? I can give you a few pointers if you would like if I knew what the strips are. I am a Graphic Designer. It looks nice. I like the flower in your logo.

If you're selling, you're required to put the weight of the bar on the front label in the bottom third of it, if I remember correctly. There are also font size requirements based on the total surface area of the label. The back label needs your physical address on it, so if this is a complete wrap around label, you may need to add some stuff required for the back label.

I'd recommend picking up this book which has the rules and great example labels in it so it's easy to understand:

SudsyFun - it is for black raspberry vanilla. i was going to change the back ground for each soap. maybe.

Carri77 - that is part of the label. I am having a hard time deciding how the label should look. where to place things, etc.

robertw98144 - that is just the front but i did not know about the weight, thanks. i figure the back will be much easier to design. address, ingredients, etc.

If you can lighten the stripes so it's not 100% it would make the other info stand out more. I don't know what program you are using or how it is designed, if you can cut it back to say 50%-70% that would look nice. For example....if the purple is 100% drop it back to 60%. It will lighten the color, however the info itself is important and you want people to be able to read it. Just a thought.

You are not required to have an ingredient panel if you are real soap. But you are required to; have the word "soap" on the front panel, have the weight on the front panel, and have your company name and physical address on the back label. There is minimum size requirements for fonts and there is placement requirements for the weight.
