I attempted to color my batch of Castile soap tonight with a strong Hibiscus tea, which is a beautiful red color, but it started morphing once I poured in the lye. It went from red to a gorgeous blue, to green, and then finally to a not-so-pleasant orange. :shock:

The tea was refrigerated beforehand but that was obviously not enough :roll:

Will freezing it preserve the color? Or would there be parts that could still get scorched & morph again whilst others do not, giving me some crazy coloring?

nope, hibiscus only stays that pretty pink/red color in m&p soap, not lye soaps. Sorry. It will usually morph to a dull beigey, brownish color in the end. Sorry!

It will change from tan to brown. That pretty color won't stay.

you can always boil it with some orange peels and ginger add some sugar throw it in the fridge and youll have an amazing summer drink :mrgreen:
