USPS changed their options Jan 1. There used to be a Parcel Post option which was usually cheaper than UPS Ground. We use stamps.com at one of my jobs and I was in the same boat as Irena, I couldn't figure out why I could only do First Class or Priority. Turns out they changed Parcel Post to something like Select Post and it's ONLY available if you GO INTO THE POST OFFICE! The post office in that town is insane, lines out the door, so who would pick that? Since the customers are paying for shipping I end up doing Priority but it kills me because that's exactly what the PO wants - for you to spend more money!
We've used the pickup as well but again they have a gotcha. You have to have at least one premium service in your pile, Express, First Class etc. You can't just do it for a bunch of First Class mail. Once I took one that was a bit heavier and made it Priority so I could schedule the pickup (the building has mailboxes by the street and a really grumpy mailman that won't come inside). One time we put in maybe 5 pickup requests from a Friday - Wednesday before they showed up. All the other ones worked great.
