Neither is better. Both approaches make soap, but there are trade-offs.

Hot process uses heat to speed up the saponification process so your soap is true soap before you put it in the mold. Soap Queen has a tutorial here: .

HP has more of a rustic look to it than CP because of the state it's in when it goes into the mold. The flip side is that you can use HP soap right away - no cure time since it was fully saponified before molding.

I think it's just a matter of personal preference, and nothing says you can't make both! Making the Crock Pot Camo from the above tutorial is on my list of soap projects. :D

You can also use hot process to fix a messed up batch of cold process soap where it separated, riced or seized. Here's a Soap Queen tutorial on that as well: .

Thanks i think for me right now HP might be better since there is no curing time and i dont need to make extra space but i i also like the clean cutness lol of CP when u mold it. thanks for showing me the differance

Whether the soap is cold process or hot process, both benefit from a curing time.

How much time does a HP soap need? If HP soap is already saponified when poured into a mold is the curing just to harden the finished soap bar?

Irina do you know how much milder it gets? I'm just wondering. I've never taken a ph on my old soaps only my new ones. I've never noticed a difference on my skin from a new (HP) soap to an older one. (I often use the soap ends right after I cut the loaf). I do notice a big difference in how long the soap will last if it's used before it's a week old. After a week the change is much slower but still happens for a while.
