My husband hates baths. I'd have to share it with Shadow, and I haven't taught her how to squeeze a squirt bottle yet!

No kids? Then find your inner child!! Jump in the bath and have a play. LOL!

My kids end up with a lot of my soap things in the bath - anything that can't be broken or hurt them, goes in the bath after a minimum 24 hours to be cleaned off. Bowls, buckets, spots, spatulas. They love it. Gives them a wash with the soap they are getting out, and saves me having to rinse everything off and use extra water before I clean them properly. Win-Win.

What a shame ya'll didn't live closer or I could put them to work every night with everyone's items haha.

I guess this would be a good time to admit that last week I made bath fizzie cupcakes with the bubble bath frosted tops. I rinsed the bowls and spatulas in my tub so I could have a bubble bath. It was an awesome afternoon relaxer after working in the kitchen all morning. :)

Soo... I've officially looked through all 89 pages of the teach soap cold process forum. lol. Amazing what you can get done during an April blizzard. :)

So I saw this topic and really loved the effect of the swirling with the squirt bottles. Here's my question...as long as you got one big enough, couldn't you use a large syringe in the same way but eliminate a lot of the waste since the plunger would push all the soap out? Just a thought, wondering if anyone has tried it. :)

I always clean my squirt bottles out right away. But then again, I always do that with everything.

When I did the Impressionist soap using the squirt bottles, there was enough waste that the bar didn't end up nearly as tall as intended. Whenever I do this again, I'm going to size my batch up 25-30% to account for the waste so I end up with normal size bars.

I have squirt bottles, but they only hold about 12-14 ounces each so for a 4-5 lb batch, you end up with multiple squirt bottles of the same color which doubles the waste problem. I picked up some bartender "Stor N' Pour' drink mix plastic containers (they have a pour spout, hold 2-3x a squirt bottle and open up for cleaning/storage - like these: ) so I could try it with larger containers. They don't squirt, but I think a thin trace pour would work with them. Haven't tried these yet though so not sure how they will work out.

Would this method work with M&P? Being so new to soap making, I don't have a lot of knowledge as to what is possible to do with M&P and what is not. CP soaps are so pretty and there are so many techniques you can use! I might have to give it a go once I have M&P down.

I like the idea of the kids cleaning in the tub, way to make them work! Lol But I just clean mine that same day, with hot water running down my drain, which is what I do most of the time. I have extremely hot water (no little ones around) so I just run it for a while after my cleaning is done. I also toss some lye down the drain every now and again to keep things moving along!

I don't do the huge layer pours with 15 colors, as they do have a lot of waste, and I am too slow in my old age to pull it off without the waste. So I just try to only pour what I know I will use for what I am doing. If I over pour, I always have a cute silicone mold (flowers, stars, and the like) nearby to dump the excess in. I do prefer the pastry bags though for a lot of soaps. I have a narrow box that I use to set the bags in to help keep them upright when not in use. I have seen some metal stands made just for that purpose too, but my box works well enough that I will just keep that money for another mold or some oils!
