I've been running some different recipes through soapcalc.net

I've been playing around with taking a recipe and putting the numbers in and adding or removing like oils to see what the numbers look like.

I've been able to get all the numbers in the correct ranges for the most part, except for the iodine.
Are there any tricks to getting your iodine levels down?
And if it's too high in your recipe what happens?

The way I understand it the higher your iodine number the harder your bar should be so I'm not sure why you would want to lower it. I don't really pay much attention to that particular number. I just look for a nice balance between creamy, conditioning, bubbly and hardness.

I wasn't sure what the iodine did exactly.
I just knew that in several instances the iodine was out of the suggested range given on the soapcalc.

The iodine value tells you how much unsaturated fat you have in your recipe. High values (lots of unsaturated fat) generally mean 1) you will have a soft bar and 2) your bar has a higher likelihood of going rancid sooner.
