Can someone please tell me what went wrong here? I have used this recipe and FO before, its was cut earlier tonite and passed the zap test. I know its not lye pockets and I mixed the crap out of it but maybe its still FO pocket...in which case it is ok to use without rebatching. I do have some bubbles in it cause I tried using TT to get a better end colour, my supplier suggested blending the TT before the lye was added so thats what I did.

The recipe was...roughly off the top of my head:)
30% OO
20% CO
30% PO
2% apricot oil
5% castor oil
8% cocoa butter in the orange and shea butter in the pink and purple.
TT, FO and oxides!

that's not 100%, what's missing?
Did you melt your palm and thoroughly mix it and then make your batter in a timely manner?
eta: in other words, not allow the palm to begin to set again before you used it.

It looks like stearic streaks.

You were talking about melting the coconut and I was talking about melt the palm oil.
Did you melt your entire amount of palm oil and stir it all up together, then pour out the amount you needed for the recipe?
If the palm is not melted and mixed well, then poured out, while mixed well, you can get an uneven distribution of the acids in the palm. You can get streaks in a batch, but the worst can happen later. If the container is continually used without being properly mixed, eventually, you can get a batch with a ton of the acids, which makes soap on a stick.

You can get lye pockets in/near stearic streaks, but usually they are just cosmetic. So check the soap, but you should always check for zap anyway. I am sure it's fine.

I am sure it is fine and just cosmetic. And you said it didn't zap, so it is good to go.
Melt your palm properly the next time, and each time thereafter, and you will be fine.
Knowing is half the battle. :)

I sometimes get that too and I melt the entire bag of palm and shake it real good. Go figure.

You can also buy a palm that is already mixed and you don't need to worry about each and every time. Hydrogenated palm is what they call it. I do not use palm so I can't tell you where you can get it, but I know people buy it somewhere. :)

If you're using a smaller size, like a 7 lb jug of palm, you can soften it up really well in the microwave with 30s - 1 minute bursts so you can stir it thoroughly before pouring/weighing in your batch.

If you ordering larger quantities, get the no-stir hydrogenated palm so you can just hack off chunks as needed.

I talked to my supplier and there is no need to melt the palm every time..I just scoop it out into my recipe:) Now...wonder what else would cause this weird stuff. One batch is not as ugly looking so maybe I should just rebatch the bad one(rebatching is a pain in the butt)? Opinions please.
