I was wondering I heard you can use silicone baking pans for molds can you? I have five pans my sis got me for xmas a few years ago and I don't use them so figured I could save a bit of money.

Yes you can use them, but don't use them for food afterwards. Make sure the sides are thick enough so they won't collapse.

I was thinking about building a "shell" around them just to make sure they can't collapse. But I don't plan to use them for food because I already don't use them. But thanks this means I don't have to buy any. Yay!

If the sides are reinforced with strong "ribbing" (like this one from BB ) they will collapse. I have a smaller, tall silicone mold I use occassionally that I make sturdier by duct-taping pieces of cardboard around it. Works great, and a good insulator too!

No mine are just basic bread or cake molds. I have plasic sings from the last election and I plan to use it to form a support around it. I saw on youtube where a lady actually made a mold out of that plastic and figure it would be great for support.
