I just bought a new digital scale and tried out a batch of soap using it last night. I guess I added too much lye. I used a soap calculator and used the amount it said, and it read on the scale. But its zapping pretty bad. :( I can save this batch by rebatching right?

This is cp soap, right?

-Did you use the correct amounts for sure? Not move a decimal point or forget an ingredient? Go over everything again and make sure.
-Did you truly achieve trace?
The batch can likely be saved one way or the other. If you didn't use the right amounts of ingredients, that can be fixed and you can rebatch. If you did not really achieve trace (achieved a false trace), you can fix that, you can rebatch.

-If you DID do everything correctly, used the right amounts and achieved real trace, then you won't need to rebatch, it will all be alright in a day or two. Leave the soap sit a few days and see what it does then. If it still zaps, then you did something wrong that you aren't remembering, so you will need to rebatch.

What was your recipe and how much did you superfat? At what temp did you combine the oils and lye? Did you use a stick blender?

Wouldn't the age of the soap be relevant? Couldn't a perfectly good batch of soap zap for up to 3 days due to slower saponification?

As I said, I would wait and see what happens. Unmold it with gloves on when it is time to unmold, then wait a few days and test it then. If it is still zappy, then rebatch it.
If you know you hit trace for sure and the ingredients were right, then it should be just fine, because your recipe is good, so just relax and be patient.

If it is not fine in a few days, you have likely left something out, but you can rebatch it. Let's just wait and see. 8)

If you soaped at 150 degrees US, then yes; that's too hot. Soap should not zap after a full gel and cool off. If the soap didn't gel, then yes, soap can zap up to three days later.

Oops, I missed the 150 degrees part, but still, wait and see what happens in a few days.

Much too hot, IMO. I won't soap over 125 deg. and feel 110 is even better! However, it might be that you read your scale incorrectly. My scale goes up to 11 lbs. However, it will only go up to 15.9 ounces and then it reads: pounds:ounces:10th ounces.

16.6 ounces of lye would be 1:00:6 but I one time used 1:06:0, which made it lye heavy.

Give it a few more days.
