I was wondering what everyone does with the soaps that dont turn out right, are two soft , dont look pleaseing asthetically or end pieaces and scraps.
I plan on makeing my own luandry , dish and dishwasher soap. Some of the recipies I found you make like HP soap and others you use borax , washing soada and grated up bar of soap.
Would the messed up and end or broken pieaces be good for this kind of soap makeing for luandry detergants and such?
What other things do people do with them.
I just cant imagine throwing away a whole batch of soap especally since it seems most beginner or small batches are 3-5 pounds at least that I have found.
Pictures of mess ups , odds and ends are very much welcome.
THank you all so much

If you are just starting out, it's best to start with small batches like 1 lb., converted into grams for accuracy. I shred my oopsie bars into another batch for a confetti soap. I tried homemade soap for laundry, but the laundry ended up dingy, even with a vinegar rinse. I would not use colored soap for your laundry as that could stain. You can use soap that didn't come out right to clean around the house.

I usually use end pieces for samples, but sometimes for embeds or confetti soaps. If I hate the look of the soap I will either sell it anyway (someone else usually likes the things I don't), cut it and sell it in an oopsie basket, or use for embeds or confetti soap. When you are new and don't sell, gifting and recruiting "testers" is always good! As for a messed up batch, depending what is wrong with it, I either rebatch it or use it for embeds and/or confetti. You can also take pieces and put them into a soap bag and use it or gift it. I have seen that done a lot too.
I am with Soap Buddy on not caring for the laundry soap that I have tried, so I don't use any of my soap for that, although I know many that do. No matter what, throwing away isn't in my vocabulary! :D

Or what you can do, with the dodgy ones, is to felt it. Then you can "colour it" anyway you like.

I don't throw away either. I'm way too attached to my own handiwork. My kids get the end pieces. My boys don't seem to care that they smell girly I have a few fish shaped metal cookie cutters that are now my end soap cutters. These are heavier cookie cutter not the flimsy kind. After I slice the ends off my loaf I press the cutter through them and the boys get fish for their tub time. They love it. The oddball pieces or soaps that I don't like just get used up anyway. I have no intention of selling at all so ugly or not it's still soap. I share with my few girlfriends the pretty ones and keep the rest for myself.

Thank you everyone.
I got gifted sevral kits to make my own luandry soap and will try it. Im not sure I would mind a little dingy looking as I am rather sick , I have sevral chronic conditions so I dont have party clothes or good work clothes. PJs sweats tshirt and stretch pants are my entire wordrobe and they dont mind a little less fancy stuff . As long as its clean I dont mind. And My son is 7 so anything put on is pretty much dingy in less then an hour regardless
As to the soap I had planned on buying a few nice oils but have decided that Im gonna make my first batch or three out of just olive oils and vegtible oils with some castor oil for bubbles if I can get it. If after a few 1 lb batches under my belt I feel its to easy I may move on to some more foo foo oils and butters. THe soap will be for me to use first to make sure its ok and Im not messing up then for me and my son and maybe gifts for family later on. I am being very cuatious in the beggining , learning first then makeing a few sample small easy batches befor exploreing other things.
I have heard about rebatching and I will have to read more into that so far Im just trying to learning all the things I need to make cp hp and cpop soap first as there is a lot to learn then I will head into the territory of rebatching , fancy shapes , fancey colors , layering and swirleling ect.
