Teach Soap

Hi All,

I'm a beginner to soaping as well and am excited to be in a forum with others with the same interest. I've only been dabbling with CP soap for the past year and have only made Goats Milk and Castille Soap which I'm so pleased with so thought it was time I took this fabulous hobby into more challenging areas, e.g. colours, herbs, other oils. Childs play I'm sure and I'll no doubt think back in the future to this day when I thought it was difficult. I've been reading up on books, watchin numerous website videos and you tube clips (including Anne Marie) so am fully syked into the new challenges ahead. Hopefully you'll bear with me. Am looking forward to reading the post from other soap makers and what everyone else is up too.

I had a go at making soap with Neem Oil last week. Suffice to say it really stinks . Does this fade over time? or should I have put something else in to mask the smell? My other oils are only Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, and Olive Oil.

Neem oil is suppose to be good for acne prone skin. I plan on making some soap with neem oil and avocado oil for me and my nephew (he is 12 going through puberty, lol) for our acne issues. What percentage did you use the neem oil in your soap at?

I used 15%, whether this is too much or not I'm not sure yet sorry. My husband says it smells like peanut butter

I make neem soap with 18% neem & use patchouli & lavender EO's. I actually like the neem scent & the patchouli (which is good for acne) kind of rounds it out to a great earthy scent. My customers are mostly old hippies like me, so they are happy LOL!!

The recipe I found for acne prone skin also calls for 18% neem, but it said to use tea tree EO, and pepermint EO. I guess teat tree EO is suppose to be good for your skin and acne too. I will try it with the lavender and patchouli EOs too, that was always one of my favorite combos.
