Teach Soap

I was wondering about adding organic material to my soap. I know when I added lavender buds to my M&P soap it turned brown after about a month. Can this happen in CP soap? Also I found a recipe that uses puree cucumber, I was thinking that may increase the liquid content in the soap, in that case would you decrease the water amount?

Most organic material will oxidize and turn brown; whether CP or MP. For cucumber puree, deduct it from your water amount.

Oh I see. Thank you so much soapbuddy you have answered ALOT of my questions and I really appreciate it! I just want to learn as much as I can before I actually start making soap, and to know what potential problems I may encounter and how best to deal with them. It's better when you get it right the first time, and I would probably be a bit sad if I had to throw out a batch of soap, lol.

You won't always get it right the first time, but it's a good experience to learn. Keep good notes.

If it does oxidize and turn brown is the soap still ok to use?

It's still safe to use, it's just not very pretty.
